Regulation of respiration in myocardium in the transient and steady state.

چکیده
1H/31P NMR has followed the metabolic response to increased work in the glucose- and pyruvate-perfused rat myocardium during a heart cycle and at the steady state. With electrical pacing and dobutamine, the heart O2 consumption increases by 56%. The phosphocreatine (PCr) level initially declines, but recovers within 15 min to its control level; the oxymyoglobin (MbO2) saturation decreases by 15%. Because the MbO2 signal reflects the intracellular [Formula: see text], the capillary-to-cell O2 gradient has increased to match the increased O2 need. However, no transient metabolic fluctuation is observed in either PCr or MbO2 throughout the entire cardiac cycle in both glucose and pyruvate-/glucose-perfused hearts. No systolic-diastolic variation is detectable under either high workload or hypoxic conditions. The results reveal that neither O2 nor ADP is regulating respiration under increased energy demand in the steady or transient state.

متن کاملTransient Characteristics of a Single-Effect Absorption Refrigeration Cycle
This paper deals with a lumped-parameter dynamic simulation of a single-effect LiBr-H2O absorption chiller. In many studies the thermodynamic properties of LiBr-H2O solution were taken from some approximate relations causing the results to be somewhat inaccurate. These relations were used to solve simultaneous differential equations involving the continuity of species constituting the LiBr-H2O ...
متن کاملDynamics Analysis of the Steady and Transient States of a Nonlinear Piezoelectric Beam by a Finite Element Method
This paper presents a finite element formulation for the dynamics analysis of the steady and transient states of a nonlinear piezoelectric beam. A piezoelectric beam with damping is studied under harmonic excitation. A numerical method is used for this analysis. In the paper, the central difference formula of four order is used and compared with the central difference formula of two order in th...

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to present a 2-D numerical model that solves the transient equations of flow, energy and species conservation in a single tubular solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). Also an electrical model is considered to compute the electrical potential and current distribution in the cell. Using this comprehensive model the cell dynamic operation and response in a step lo...
متن کاملAnalysis of Transient Flow in the Case of Secondary Injection for Transient Vector Control (RESEARCH NOTE)
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the flow field structure in transient state and performance of secondary injection system for thrust vectoring in divergent section of a two-dimensional nozzle. Secondary injection for thrust vectoring in a two-dimensional nozzle is studied by solving three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged equations by means of fluent solver. Spalart-allmaras model was used ...
